Earth Summit Mission 2022: Scientific Expedition and Research on Mt. Qomolangma Helps Reveal the Synergy between Westerly Winds and Monsoon and the Resulting Climatic and Environmental Effects

“Earth summit mission 2022” is one of the landmark scientific research activities Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research (STEP). This expedition firstly used advanced technology methods to detect vertical meteorological elements produce forecasts for mountain climbing. The Qomolangma exceeded an altitude over 8000 meters first time carried out a comprehensive investigation on Mt. Qomolangma. Among participants, westerly-monsoon synergy influence team stationed in region had two tasks: 1) detecting structure atmosphere parameters such as wind, temperature, humidity, pressure with instruments high-altitude detection at base camp; 2) observing extreme weather processes ensure that members mountaineering could successfully reach top. Through this expedition, better understanding characteristics complex area gained.
